Other than this - its an Awesome guide. I liked reading this. Comment by Soloed as a BM Hunter 1.
If you get infected with necrotic plague use spirit heal 5. This part is important you need to use distracting shot on the raging spirits all the time and just MD them back to your pet. Distracting shot will stop the Valkyries from dropping you because it counts you as a OT. Kill Ice Spheres again 8. You will be draged into Frostmourne just kill the falling ghosts and when you leave Frostmourne kill any raging spirits that are up and nuke the boss 9.
LK one shots you rez yourself and then its a quick kill and hope for the mount to drop :. Comment by Maelchav I'm having a little trouble soloing this on my ilvl Retribution paladin, in man normal mode apparently I can switch to heroic on my other characters, but not this one yet. My damage and survivability are ok , not great, but that's not my problem.
In five attempts last night, I was picked up and dropped off the platform by a Val'kyr Shadowguard twice. The other three deaths were n00b mistakes like getting thrown off by Ice Sphere or being distracted by my wife talking to me. I know I had LK's full attention, but that didn't help me. Do I need to keep at least one Raging Spirit alive throughout Phases 2 and 3?
Any suggestions? I'm working on upgrading my tank gear in hopes of farming H for the mount - is it easier in Protection spec? Or am I better off continuing in Retribution?
With the last Raging Spirit dead , resume dps on Arthas. No more Shadow Traps, no Valkyrs , just Defile. Intermission As you are killing your final Spirit , the intermission ends. He will spawn more Raging spirits , these don't really need to be killed and most likely just die to Beast Cleave over time anyways Phase One Phase one is relatively simple, although it can get a tad overwhelming which is why you want it to be over with as soon as possible, due to the high likelihood that you will be hit with both Infest and Necrotic Plague at the same time, which can almost immediately cause a wipe if not properly handled.
Anyway, moving on! Before the Lich King becomes target-able lay down an explosive trap and snake trap, for some added DPS, as well as using your Virmen's Bite. Also ensure that your pets Growl is enabled. Your pet will most likely not need the tanking spec, as the damage it takes is nearly non-existent and can easily be handled with the Spirit Bond talent.
Worst case scenario a single Mend Pet will easily keep your pet alive. Then continue to use as well as Stampede once the Lich King is target-able. A quick Multi-Shot will easily take care of the Drudge Ghouls before the next spawns. The Shambling Horror isn't much of a threat and can easily be kited.
He will not often hit you, if at all due to the mob only being level He should however, be taken care of as soon as possible. As having necrotic plague can leap between you and him, and can easily cause a wipe. Your main concern during this phase is the Necrotic Plague and Infest combo that he will occasionally due.
Having DBM Or similar boss mod add-on with WotLK fights is incredibly helpful as it will let you know when these spells are about to be cast, and how close together they will be. In this event, you will need to use your Healthstone. With a little patience, and getting used to the mechanics, you should have the Lich King hitting the transition phase. Transition Phase If you haven't already, finish up any adds that have survived through the first phase.
Quickly move to the edge of the map to avoid taking continuous damage from Remorseless Winter. The Lich King will summon Raging Spirit during this.
You should kill these down as quickly as possible. You will also need to keep an eye on Ice Sphere that spawn. They only have around 50k health and can easily be taken out with a single Serpent Sting. Try to keep your DoTs on the Lich King as much as possible during this phase. Optional This can make the second phase easier, but I had no luck with this in my experience, but I feel I should mention it, in the event that it does work.
Leave one of the summoned Raging Spirits alive from the transition phase, and bring him with you into phase two. This shouldn't be too difficult to manage, as the spirit doesn't do much damage when he actually manages to hit you. Having the Raging Spirit alive, and tanking it yourself.
Not your pet Is supposedly an effective way to grant your character immunity from the Valkyrie grabbing you and dropping you off the edge. However I never had any luck with this strategy.
If you can manage it, it will make the phase significantly more simple, as almost all damage will be focused on your pet, and he can be easily kept up with a continuous Mend Pet.
Just be sure to dodge the defile pools and focus the Lich King down and bring him into the next transition phase. If you are not using the Raging Spirit: You will need to disable your pets growl ability, as well as dismiss your pet and re-summon him to ensure the Lich King has aggro on you, and not your pet.
This will grant you immunity from the Valkyrie picking you up and throwing you off the ledge. However, now you have to deal with tanking the Lich King, as well as Soul Reaper and Infest these combined at roughly the same time can be incredibly devastating and can easily kill you. Never stop kiting the Lich King at any point, this will help in mitigating his melee damage.
When the Lich King uses Soul Reaper quickly disengage, he should shortly pause again in order to cast either Defile or Infest.
If he uses Defile first, just continue to kite him as best as possible, using disengage on cooldown. If he uses Infest, counter by using Deterrence and continue kiting, using disengage on cooldown.
Just rinse and repeat, and with a little luck you should reach the next transition phase. Transition Phase Just do what you did for the last one, except there is absolutely no reason to leave any Raging Spirits alive any more. Just kill em' dead! Phase Three It is absolutely one-hundred percent safe to turn back on your pets growl ability.
The Valkyrie will no longer try to pick anyone up and throw em off the edge! The rest of the fight is absolute gravy from here on out. You will on occasion get slurped up by Frostmourne, but that isn't a big deal. Just shoot the adds up in the air and hang out till you get sent back. Continue killing the Lich King. Occasionally a horde of spirits will come chasing after you, but the damage they do is minor and no real concern.
Hope this guide helps, and good luck to those farming the mount. May the loots loots be ever in your favor! Comment by CamptyGuides I got the mount on my try farming it with 6 chars so if you really want this awesome mount just keep trying,in the end it will drop!
Comment by Arbron Following 6. So, I guess I'll be the first! Just destroyed this fight on 25 heroic in about 2 minutes. Transition phase? Remorseless Winter did per tick. DPS him through it. Kill the ice spheres with any kind of cleave. They go down in one hit. His grand finale, Fury of Frostmourne, hit me for a whopping 11k. I foresee this being trivial for any class, any spec.
Imagine the mincemeat we're going to make of this at lvl ! Comment by Archegonus Why isn't Invincible Reins anymore on the loot table? Comment by jd With the new 6. Except, as melee, I'm near the middle when LK dies. The best part is that I can't release my spirit because "a member of your group is in combat". I can't even logout, and since I'm forever falling off the platform the "character stuck" tool also can't be used.
I'm just stuck forever. I had to ctrl-alt-del kill Wow, and open a ticket to resolve it. Best part? No credit for the kill Comment by Sorathez So I just did this fight, after stat squish, expecting to rek it.
Did fine, never even lost health leeching poison is broken here. I'd been using Shadowstep for the lols, just to jump around and then suddenly Knocked off the edge, no shadowstep to jump back to him with. I was never in danger of dying other than frequent trips off the edge of the platform and ended up using Conversion and Death Strike as needed for a heal. You can pretty much save all your defensive cooldowns for the Frostmourne Room, as I did get dinged up a bit in there.
The two big killers are the Shadow Traps at the start of the fight and the Icy Spheres when he's kneeling in the middle of the platform. The Shadow Traps make a black swirling graphic on the ground normally under your feet Even though the blast radius is not huge, better safe than sorry and move him a decent distance away.
Once I quit being a tard, I turned off the addon and did the V targeting, so I could see the Icy Spheres faster and clearer. Makes me happy to know I have another raid I can fully solo for a rare drop mount : Good luck! Comment by superforyou I managed to solo this as a protection warrior in 6.
I made a video of me soloing it it's sped up 3 times because the video was 18 minutes before the I sped it up. Here's the link to the video, perhaps you could find it useful. Comment by druunah Solo as a protection warrior item level just under Keep your back to the stairs going up the the Lich King's throne. I actual stood partway up the stairs This prevents him from knocking you off the edge, killing you and having to start over. Hit the icy spheres with Heroic Throw when they appear.
Make sure to use Victory Rush and Enraged Regeneration when needed. I think that it was due to his shadow traps and the fact I was standing on the stairs and not on the platform. It was still reasonably easy to target the Lich King or anything else through the "gloom.
Keep your back to the stairs and the likelihood of The Lich King throwing you off the platform is greatly reduced. I would imagine that this strategy should work with any class at approximately level I personally have not tried this at lower levels. Comment by thefunkmasterj I got a weird bug while soloing this after 6. After dropping the LK to 1 hit point, a random Val'kyr spawned during the long roleplay dialogue and carried me off the edge. Do not worry if this happens to you, though.
Menethil's resurrection spell will still get you up and able to take off that last hp. Comment by Schadenfreude Had a val'kyr pick me up warlock much to my surprise-- apparently you do want to have an add hanging around beating on you during phase 2 if you're going to do this with a pet. Not sure if I was just overly stringent about killing adds this time since I've been soloing LK25H for several weeks and didn't previously have an issue.
Comment by Ickthid I've been clearing this fight multiple times weekly since 6. Warlock: Try Affliction, use drums of rage and potion of the jade serpent along with dark soul: misery during the first phase. Use voidwalker for add control up until the end of the first intermission. When LK starts calling Val'kyr, either dismiss the voidwalker or use grimoire of sacrifice.
Voidwalker is safe to use during the intermission phases because the Val'kyr won't grab you. Try using drain soul on the ice orbs with glyph of soul consumption to keep your health up for infest. Rogue: Don't have many issues with this class. I run it as Assassination, haven't tried the other two specs.
Use cloak of shadows to get rid of the plague in the first phase if necessary. Use fan of knives just outside of melee range from the ice orbs to get rid of them. Consider talenting for shuriken toss for the final phase inside of Frostmourne, you can work up combo points to put into recuperate to help survive the phase. Warrior: I usually use Arms during this fight. For talents, I usually run with second wind and dragon roar, the rest doesn't matter as much.
For now, they're still 'honorable' targets, you can kill them and get a victory rush proc that can heal you up. Glyph for victory rush if you need it. For ice orb, you can either whirlwind and risk killing the ghouls, if you find yourself needing them or use heroic throw from range. For the Frostmourne phase, you can kill the spirits with heroic throw and use the following victory rush to keep your health up.
Hunter: I usually have the easiest time as Beast Mastery. Talent for crouching tiger, hidden chimaera, spirit bond, and stampede.
Glyph for liberation. Pet is your choice, but I recommend a corehound for the bloodlust. Spirit bond will help keep your health up, but if you find yourself being carried away by Val'kyr sometimes you are, sometimes you aren't, it's buggy atm , you can survive to the end by dismissing the pet and using disengage to keep your health up.
Druid: I've only done it as Balance. Add control is pretty easy with starfall, allowing you to focus down LK. The fight is simple aside from that.
Prioritize the reflections as they spawn, they have a silence that can be chained, that alone can ruin the attempt. Paladin: Retribution. Talent for selfless healer, the rest are subjective.
Cleanse the disease when necessary. Ice orb can be taken from range with judgment or exorcism. Heal with flash of light when your selfless healer buff hits 5 stacks, if you're having an issue with infest.
Just make sure to take care of the Frost Orbs, some may miss due to your level difference, but if you're not in the middle you may get knocked off. Comment by plated84 Solo'd 25 heroic as a freshly boosted 90 blood death knight, with only the introductory gear you receive after completing the initial quests into dreanor. Was surprisingly easy. Took two lockouts as you need to beat him on normal to unlock heroic mode. So if you are having trouble beating him with a certain class, or just wanna get a jump on farming him while still getting to max level, death knight is the way to go.
Strat was simple, moved around alot during phase one to avoid shadow trap. Let blood boil and my dots take care of the adds. Just wore him down after that. If you can make it past phase one you basically have him beat. And yes invincible did drop on my first attempt. Riding my luck into ulduar and a shot at mimirons head was unsuccessful though as i lacked the dps to kill the brain fast enough. Will attempt again when i get max level.
Comment by behunter Don't know if anyone else has had this issue, but every time I've soloed the Lich King, I get stuck on the platform and the only way I can get out of ICC is by either hearthing, which I don't always want to do, or by jumping off the side to kill myself and run back.
Am I missing something, or is this really the only way out. Comment by Sanguiine Did this today on my Rogue at , turns out you can resist the Fury of Frostmourne. I got the "unable to resurrect" debuff, but I didn't take any damage from it at all. So I was smacking Arthas in the ass while the event played out, with a beam of attempted raise dead shooting into my forehead. Then looted double Fal'inrush, Defender of Quel'thalas.
Didn't think that could happen. Edit: Learned how to spell the crossbow's name. Comment by Jessu Anyone else having a problem not killing him in 25 man normal, or did it just bug out on me? Soloed as a hunter, and left him alive with enough HP also dismissed my pet so it wouldn't do any unnecessary damage to do the RP and I didn't release He's just Weird bug.
Comment by Gho5tRUN3R I just want to state that those purple rings are basically the jump pads that kill you instantly. Avoid them. I don't know why nobody has mentioned that in the highest ratings.
Maybe they looked different before all the expansions after. But just a warning for all those out there. But just a warning for all those out there, look for a dark purple, large sparkle and then a dark purple ring will open up underneath that area. Don't go near this or you will be flung out and die instantly. At least that's what happened to me on 10H. Comment by fizboz Geared Destro Warlock solo - Damage seems to be trivial, the only things that can kill you are the purple circles on the floor Soul Reaper and the orbs during the Remorseless Winter phases - both knock you off the platform, killing you instantly.
These can easily be avoided by standing with your back to the stairs leading up to the LK's throne. Comment by tetrahedron So during this fight, Tirion is stuck in a Freezing Trap.
Now, he doesn't use bubble to clear the CC because, at that point, Wings caused Forbearance, and he needed Wings to beat Arthas, so he couldn't bubble. And he doesn't use his pvp trinket until after everyone is dead. The only explanation for this is that, since everyone was dead, combat was dropped and he was able to equip a Medallion. But since Humans have a free trinket and don't need to equip a Medallion, this must mean that Tirion isn't actually human. Illuminati confirmed?
Comment by Edynol For melee, Arthas is very hard to solo now. When he goes to knock you back, he throws you in a random direction usually ending up in death. Best to try get him down before he does the first one. Comment by Deyamira I have found that even max level, his knock back can down even the most geared people, standing towards the middle with your back to the throne triggers the knock back to push you only a few inches up the steps, and as a range,it's still easy to hit him, it's the perfect range, as for a melee, just make sure you have the stairs behind you, should knock you straight back without killing you, I'm not sure if it's because of level, but if you stand there the whole fight he can't kill you with his win button, you basically skip the death and Resurrection.
Hope this helps someone else! Comment by 0Aloreth Arthas: "Father! The raid resets tomorrow. Comment by Glitzero Fun fact: The Lich King is actually the most poor boss in the whole Icecrown Citadel with 32 golds dropped when we don't count Deathbringer Saurfang , Gunship Armory and Valithria Dreamwalker who don't drop money in cause of coffin drop.
Comment by Phish Shadow Priest in 10H. I found that if I stand on the stairs, he doesn't knock me off the platform. I get pushed back a few feet, and can keep DPSing from a far.
Fortunately, a ticket got me the random loot I would have gotten still no mount I'm not going to push that, because -whatever. Thought I'd throw that out there since it's a once-weekly chance. Comment by magette If like me you do this every single week and cry afterward just remember that if you forget to change the difficulty and you pull him on normal by mistake he dies very easily, I had popped all my cds and nuked him down so I had to jump off the edge and manually close the game and wait 5 minutes, when I logged in again I could release and go in and change to correct difficulty.
Big sigh of relief. But alas. Comment by mencea To kill Lich King 25 man heroic on multiple characters a week it is recommended to: - clear the instance on NORMAL up untill LK on your least favorite character - make a custom group by pressing the key 'I' then chose custom group, and allow auto invite.
Comment by ladyfanny Don't do the same mistake I've done if you want the Invicible. I have ran ICC in normal 10m and heroic 10m and normal 25m for 2 weeks long trying to farm this mount. I was changing the instance difficulty about how strong my characthers were But It is only dropping on 25h. You can do the entire instance in normal mode if you want, but you have to do the Lich King on 25m heroic. You can get a friend if you are getting hard time.
I finally got to do it on every of my toons very easily, you only have to learn what stuff you want to dodge. Don't stand in black circle. And you gonna see big white stuff dropping around him when he's standing in the middle of the place, it is called '' Ice sphere'' So here's some example of the moves I've made as a macro to kill them instantly. If you move is on cd, just run away a bit till your move is back up But even if it's on cd, your target will still be the ice sphere, so you can still one shot it with anything you got up.
When I learned that I had to do it on 25m heroic, it took 2 weeks running it with 7 toons a week for it to drop. Good luck PS. Sorry I only speak english for 3 or 4 years long now. So sorry if you don't understand me all the time. Comment by Armetti With 7. Comment by BonParaAra For Demon Hunters soloing him and electing to stay away from the ice spheres: Fel Rushing through them kills them without blowing them up in your face, which makes the fight a lot faster.
Comment by Bababooeyhs He didn't insta kill me like he used to. I awkwardly stood there and whacked on him while he gave his speech and tried to resummon me. Tirion also wasted his battle rez! What a noob! So happy for Warcraft's improvement in item drops.
That made my day! Comment by Karadine After the fight, a Portal to Light's Hammer appears allowing transport to the entry part of the raid. Likewise, there is a Portal to The Frozen Throne allowing transport from the entry area back to the boss area.
Comment by Mydge If you get to the LK and can't get up onto his floor, make sure you kill the first two mobs when you enter the raid. I ran past them and couldn't get up to the throne. I just want to be disappointed by my lack of dead pony Arthas! Stop talking! Comment by athena42 If you are having trouble like me and keep looking at the teleporter for a port to the lich king king, teleport to the Upper area. Then run straight to teleporter in the middle of the room ahead.
The room in question is the large area with the four bridges that leads to various bosses. The middle teleporter will automatically send you to Arthas. Comment by Nurmat m hp in heroic 25 version, wtf. Comment by ThadTank Arthas: Father. Teranas: At long last. No Arthas rules forever my son Arthas: I see Arthas must be maintained. Tirion: The weight You hold a grim Arthas in your hands, brother. This site makes extensive use of JavaScript. Please enable JavaScript in your browser.
